The Guardian’s Shadow

There are secrets in Sintra that were never buried.

When the body of a young man is found in the Sintra hills, Inspector Miguel Duarte is confronted with a case that soon reaches far beyond a single crime. What seemed an isolated act reveals a web of silence, old families, forgotten documents and a photograph from the early 1950s that conceals more questions than answers.

As the investigation progresses, cryptic signs and a past that refuses to stay buried lead Miguel Duarte to question everything he thought he knew. With the help of Eleanor Whitcombe, a British investigator with surprising ties to Sintra, he discovers that some truths never die; they merely wait for the right moment to resurface.

The Guardian’s Shadow is the first volume in the Sintra Mysteries series.
